TOPIC: Combined effect of climate change and anthropogenic pressure on plant biodiversity in the Ain Temouchent region, case of El Amria

Abstract

This study aims to assess the combined effects of climate change and anthropogenic pressure on plant biodiversity in the Aïn Témouchent region, more precisely in the communen of El Amria. The phytoecological approach was adopted, by carrying out floristic surveys on homogeneous spaces. At the stationary scale, 11 sites were studied by applying the quadrat method. On the cartographic level, we carried out a diachronic analysis of land use between the years 2015 and 2025. The results revealed a regression of certain plant species and a degradation of natural habitats, linked to unplanned agricultural activities and urban expansion. In addition, climatic variations, including rising temperatures and falling rainfall, have impacted floristic distribution. The study recommends the implementation of sustainable management strategies to preserve plant biodiversity and local ecosystems.
