In this work, we are interested in improving the accuracy of the measurement of physical activity in humans when heart rate monitor is used and this without the addition of another device. That by eliminating of the added errors to the heart rate signal, when the presence of stress in the individual in whom physical activity is assessed. It was therefore necessary to develop a method that can separate physical activity and stress. The developed method is based on the use of muscle electrical activity (EMG) of the abdomen in combination with that of the heart (ECG). At first, we developed a device to acquire the two signals (ECG, EMG), then send them to a computer for further signal processing. With the latter, several experiments were conducted in both universities, Tlemcen, Algeria and Linkoping, Sweden. The results were quite positive to conclude that using the electrical activity of the abdomen in combination with of the heart can be used to separate physical activity and stress and so improving the evaluation of physical activity without using other devices but only the heart rate monitoren_US
