Abstract

Due to the widespread phenomenon of discrimination and hate speech in various parts of the world, and the resulting violations of constitutionally guaranteed human rights and fundamental freedoms, the international community is striving to combat and criminalize such behaviours through international agreements. In response, theAlgerian legislator issued Law No. 20-05 concerning the prevention and fights against discrimination and hate speech. This law criminalizes various forms of discrimination and hate speech, and sets out deterrent penalties for the perpetrators of these crimes while ensuring protection for the victims. It also includes preventive mechanisms, such as the establishment of a National Observatory for the Prevention of Discrimination and Hate Speech.
