Abstract
This study, entitled ""Virtual Space and the Formation of Digital Identity,"" aims to explore the impact of virtual space on the formation of digital identity among university students. The research seeks to identify the features of the new identity introduced by digital platforms, which serve as the first step for users to understand the individuals they interact with.
A purposive sample of 100 male and female students under the age of 30 from the Wilaya of Aïn Témouchent (Algeria) was selected. The study employed both the descriptive-analytical method and the quantitative approach. For statistical data analysis, the SPSS program was used.
The findings revealed that Facebook is the most widely used virtual space, with usage reaching up to 6 hours per day. Additionally, this space has helped Algerian youth acquire new habits and behaviors, including those related to study and entertainment. The study also found a causal relationship between virtual space and digital identity.
As for the manifestations of digital identity, they are reflected in the daily behaviors of Algerian youth and their relationship with their social environment.
