Abstract

The principle of publicity in criminal trials is a fundamental safeguard for a fair trial. It allows public scrutiny over judicial proceedings and strengthens public trust in the justice system. However, the true effectiveness of this principle depends on its practical implementation, along with other guarantees such as judicial independence and the rights of the defense. Public hearings alone are not sufficient to ensure justice, but they remain a key component of a fair trial framework.
