Abstract

The study aimed to know the level of social cognition among healthy elderly people and elderly people with degenerative disease and the difference between them in terms of social cognition. To achieve these goals, we followed the clinical approach based on a case study, where a purposive sample was selected that included four cases from the nursing home in Ain Temouchent: 1 female and 1 male suffering from degenerative diseases (multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s, respectively) and 1 healthy female and male who do not suffer from degenerative diseases. The social perception scale (Rana Rifaat Shawkat, 2013) was applied. The following results were reached: - The elderly person’s level of social awareness is healthy, between average and close to good. - The level of social awareness of the elderly person with a weak degenerative disease. - There is a difference in social cognition between the healthy elderly person and the elderly person with degenerative disease.
