Résumé
The intellectual has a close relationship with sarcastic speech, because sarcasm is one of
the types of expressing an opinion freely without being punished, and the use of the element of
sarcasm in their speeches by educated people is not new to the times, but rather is as old as
Greek philosophy, because Socrates is also one of the intellectuals who used sarcasm in their
speeches, and we also find that the intellectuals have used The factor of sarcasm throughout the
ages, whether in the West or the Arabs, and among the Arabs, whether in pre-Islamic times or
Islam, and satirical discourse has aesthetics that we find appearing in the title, language, etc.
We do not forget the important functions of sarcasm in discourse, whether in the social,
political, psychological, or other aspects, and all of this we find apparent in the collection of
short stories. "Who Buys Dirt", especially in the story "Congratulations", "Sale by Gift", and
"The Creative Intellectual", and also in my stories "Corona Dioxide", "The Virtuous City", and
let us not forget the story of "Laylah" and "Asala from Sayyid Anana."
