Abstract
In this study, we chose to use images as a pedagogical tool to enhance oral
comprehension in the French as a Foreign Language (FLE) program, specifically
targeting 5th-grade primary students. Employing imagery as a teaching and learning
aid for FLE, especially for oral comprehension, serves as a means to facilitate
understanding among young learners through their role as intermediate descriptions of
meaning.
The work is divided into two parts: a theoretical section addressing various theoretical
concepts, methods, and different teaching strategies for oral comprehension based on
audiovisual and oral methods.
The second part focuses on practical implementation, where we propose an
experimental activity aimed at confirming or refuting the hypothesis we have
developed. At the end of this experiment, we confirmed the utility of images as a
pedagogical support in learning French as a foreign language, specifically for
facilitating oral comprehension. In fact, this medium assists learners in understanding
and memorizing by capturing their attention and evoking pleasure.
In conclusion, this study emphasizes the significance of images as a pedagogical tool
in FLE instruction, particularly for oral comprehension. Images provide a visual
dimension that helps learners grasp concepts more effectively and retain them. We
hope that this research will encourage teachers to incorporate more images into their
pedagogical practices and contribute to enhancing French language learning among
young learners.
