Abstract
Algeria is a multilingual country as numerous foreign languages and mother tongues coexist
in its territory, which gave birth to many linguistic variations according to the regions. As a
consequence, and thanks to this linguistic wealth, we notice the appearance of several
phenomena due to the conflict of languages, among them ‘emprunt’. The study resides at the level of sociolinguistic and language practices of the Algerians.
Therefore, initially we question the principle causes that lead the interlocutors to emprunt
many languages in their speech exchange; secondly, we will tempt to identify the different
forms of emprunt apparent in the discourse in radio, by making out the features and factors
that motivate the linguistic crossbreeding to understand the reasons of the emprunt use by the
host and its guests.
