La Sécurité Routière dans les Projets Routiers en Algérie
Abstract
The Algerian road network does not cease to record daily human and material losses due to
road accidents. Road insecurity represents a great threat to society and a heavy burden on the
state treasury. At present and in the face of the multiplication of traffic accidents on the different
roads, road safety has become one of the important axes in different fields. And yet, it remains
among the least treated axes in the academic research in Algeria which represents today a
remarkable challenge for the researchers and practitioners who evolve in particular in the field
of the public works.
The causes of road accidents in Algeria are largely attributed to the famous (human behavior)
in 90% of cases. The interpretation given to this designation (human behavior) is generally
reduced to the punishment of the road user, primarily the vehicle driver. It is also a problem
that can occur from the very beginning of the idea of the road project, through its study, its
realization and until its opening to the traffic. It is also commonly known that the realization of
a road or highway project is a very complex process and is confronted on the ground with
various constraints (financial, technical, administrative, organizational constraints, etc.). This
work will also attempt to quantitatively study the extent of the combined impact of different
geometric, pavement and traffic characteristics on road safety with a view to better addressing
this problem and mitigating insecurity on Algerian roads. The combination of several analysis
tools (analytical, numerical, information systems) will help to better analyze the studied
problem.
