Abstract

COVID-19 is a global health emergency. The evolution of the disease is unpredictable with disastrous socio-economic consequences. SARS-CoV-2 infection can lead to an inappropriate immune response and coagulopathy responsible for true viral sepsis. The aim of this work is to study the epidemiological, clinical and biological aspects of COVID-19 in patients hospitalized at the Ahmed Medaghri hospital in the wilaya of Ain Temouchent. This is a cross-sectional study aimed at descriptive and analytical report on 90 patients with COVID-19 carried out at Ahmed Medaghri Hospital in Ain Temouchent, over a period of 3 months from December 1 to February 28, 2022. Data were collected using clinical observations and follow-up noted on the medical record. Of a total of 90 patients, the median age was 51 years and 50 patients (53.19%) were male. The main biological abnormalities observed were increased markers of inflammation (CRP: 42.55%), hyperglycemia (78.72%), hepatic cytolysis (18.79%), anemia (6.38%) and renal failure ( 24%). Knowledge of the patterns of COVID-19 forms would help advance infection control techniques in Algeria.
