Abstract
The high cost of mineral fertilizers and their low availability are a limiting factor in market
horticulture, especially in tomato cultivation. However, the use of organic amendments can be
less costly and beneficial in maximizing crop yield.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of a biofertiliser BACOSOL based on
poultry feces on the growth and production of tomato plant Solanum lycopersicum. The
variety (Saint Pierre) grown under greenhouse at the level of the private farm of Mr and Mrs
BOUAZZA MAAROUF located in the commune Sidi Ben Adda Wilaya of Ain Témouchent.
During our study, the experimental device adopted was made on two lines of 10 plants each
(the total is 20 plants) fertilized with the biofertilizer BACOSOL by the root route and
compared to a control (6 plants that were randomly taken) fertilized with conventional
chemical fertilizer NPK (15-15-15). The fertilizing value and the impact of biofertiliser on
growth in height, stem diameter, number of bouquet, number of flowers, weight and diameter
of fruit were measured.
The results showed that the biofertilant gave the best growth in average height of the plants
(23.4cm to 58 JAR; 45.9cm to 75 JAR; 69.5 JAR to 87 JAR and 8.8cm to 107 JAR), also
positive results in average number of florets (6.6); average number of flowers (14.8) mean
number of fruits (12.1) and mean number of weights (110.71) and in diameter also with an
average of (23.85); BACOSOL gave sweet tomatoes with a dark red color.
So the BACOSOL treatment presented interesting agronomic results that will have to be
confirmed with other types of crop.
