The most important provisions introduced by this law include the tightening of penalties for all drug and psychotropic substance offenses, as well as exempting juvenile minors from criminal prosecution if they undergo treatment before the initiation of public proceedings, and dividing drug offenses into three categories: felonies, aggravated misdemeanors, and ordinary misdemeanors. The legislator also strengthened penalties for all drug-related offenses except for offenses involving consumption, purchase, or possession solely for personal use.
