The humane treatment of prisoners is a right guaranteed by Algerian law, as stipulated in ordinance no 72/02 concerning the regulation of prisons and inmate reintegration, and law no 04/05, which further outlines the legal framework for this process. This legal framework promotes the principles of proper treatment inside and outside correctional facilities, subjecting the prisoner to a system aimed at their reform so that they may reenter society as productive and rehabilitated individuals, once released, their presence should no longer pose a threat but rather become a positive contribution ti the community.
