The study aims to highlight how description shifts from a decorative function to an effective artistic tool in constructing meaning. This is achieved through external description, which portrays characters, places, and events, and internal description, which reveals the psychological depth and emotional states of the characters. It also demonstrates the role of rhetorical devices such as simile, metaphor, and metonymy in enhancing expressive power and expanding semantic interpretation. On the narrative level, the study shows that the collection is based on a condensed narrative style characterized by the integration of narration and description, as well as varied modes of presenting events, which creates an aesthetic effect based on suggestion and openness to interpretation. The study concludes that “A Soft Voice” represents a modern narrative experience grounded in linguistic economy and semantic depth, where aesthetics functions as a structural component rather than a superficial ornament.otherNarrativeDescriptionRhetoricShort StoryAestheticsجمالية السرد وبلاغة الوصف في المجموعة القصصية "بصوت خافت" لنسيم كحلانThesis
