It is only with the significant representation of African American literature that American society stands to be cleansed from the problem of racial discrimination. Zora Neale Hurston’s short story Sweat is a story with different perspective. It revolves around the experiences of Black Women and their struggles with racism, sexism, and patriarchal violence. This revealed the violence toward women and women’s resistance regarding the construction of a patriarchal society. This research deals with the aspects of the African American Renaissance in the field of literature and the birth of Black Feminism with the use of Huston’s short story Sweat as a case study. It sheds lights and depicts black women suffer with racism, sexism and violence employing Black Feminist lens.
