Abstract: Ethnobotanical studies present a very relevant means in the floristic inventory of medicinal plants, for this reason we carried out an ethnobotanical survey among the local population of the region of Temouchent in order to assess the place of phytotherapy and deduce the diseases whose treatment is mainly herbal. The ethnobotanical surveys carried out using questionnaire sheets made it possible to inventory 51 medicinal plants belonging to 28 botanical families. The most important family is that of the lamiaceae. the aerial parts constitute the most used part and the majority of the remedies are prepared in the form of decoction and infusion. These herbal remedies are administered orally. Of all the respiratory conditions treated, influenza is the most common illness. The results obtained constitute a very valuable source of information for the region studied and for the national medicinal flora. At the end of our work, the use of traditional medicine is widely answered, the conventional use of these plants can be rationalized due to their richness in active components.
