Abstract

Algerian legislation and its historical development. The historical and social importance of the endowment and its role in promoting social solidarity and economic development were highlighted. The research showed that Algerian legislation regarding waqf passed through several stages, from the Ottoman era to the French colonial period, and then to the stage of independence. Although this legislation has changed over the years, the basic principles of the endowment have remained constant, including charity and spending on public interests. The study also revealed the challenges faced by the endowment in Algeria, such as a lack of public awareness and a lack of administrative resources. However, the study recommended several measures to strengthen the role of the endowment, including intensifying awareness-raising efforts and supporting institutions that manage endowments. From what we have looked at, the endowment in Algerian legislation is an important legal and social institution that has great potential to contribute to the well-being of society. By understanding the history and development of this institution, we can work to address the challenges it faces and enhance its role as a positive force in Algeria.
