The phytochemical tests carried out made it possible to detect terpenoids, alkaloids, free quinones and saponins. The quantitative estimate of total phenolic compounds by adopting the Folin-Ciocalteu method has shown that the ethanolic extracts of Acanthus mollis are rich in polyphenol. The evaluation of the antioxidant power by the method of scavenging free radicals showed that the extracts (aqueous and ethanolic of Acanthus mollis) studied all have very good reducing activity, especially for the aqueous extract, with IC50 equal to 0.003066 g / l and 0.02739 g / l respectively. These results suggest that this plant can be used to treat diseases and inflammation that require the scavenging of free radicals.en_US
