The engine block is a substantial part in the operation of the automobile. it undergoes great stresses under thermal and physical stresses. it determines the power of the engine by its cubic capacity and rotation maximal speed of the crankshaft. The current study presents the thermomechanical analysis of the engine block with the use of a finite element software « ANSYS-Workbench. » The choice of materials to develop the engine block is a major factor for a good functioning. therefore, in the present work, standard steel is chosen. however, the results are not perfect. The calculation using other materials such as cast iron and aluminium alloys is to compare and find the most suitable one that reduces the propagationof temperatures over time combustion, exhaust, compression and thermomechanical stressesen_US
