Abstract: The work I have done consists of recovering and recycling a waste from the production of marble in the manufacture of concrete. We opted for the introduction of pozzolana as an addition in the concrete in order to improve these characteristics, knowing that the marble powder is an inert addition we wanted to make a comparison with the addition of natural pozzolana and it should be noted that pozzolana is very abundant in the western region of Algeria. Recycling and recovery of waste has become a major concern of governments in view of the economic and environmental impact it presents. In this work we opted for the partial substitution of cement by marble powder and natural pozzolana. For this, six batches were made, a first control batch without any addition, and five batch of mortar with different percentage of substitution of the cement by the powder of the marble and the natural pozzolan. A characterization of the mechanical flexural and compressive strengths was performed at the ages of 7, 28, 60 and 90 days. To study the durability part of these mortars, the accelerated carbonation was measured. The effect of adding marble powder and pozzolana on shrinking was also discussed. The results obtained on the mechanical resistance to bending and compression demonstrated the effectiveness of adding marble powder to the mortar.
