dc.description.abstract | The current research study is aimed primarily at the ethnobotanical study of traditional knowledge about plants used in the treatment of digestive system disorders. The basic objective is to collect information about the plants utilized, their names, the parts used, the manner in which the recipes are prepared, and how they are supplied to patients. A study of 180 questionnaires was distributed in three locations of the state of Ain Temouchent. The results obtained made it possible to identify 48 plant species belonging to 21 botanical families, dominated by the Lamiaceae followed by the Apiaceae, Asteraceae, Zingiberaceae, Fabiaceae, Rosaceae, Verbenaceae, Punicaceae, Caesalpiniaceae, Linaceae, Cupressaceae, Myrtaceae, Barassicaceae, Anacardiaceae. Women are the most interesting category compared to men, aged 20 to 40, and then the age groups of 41 to 60, 61 to 80 and over 80. Among the users of traditional medicine, academics are the most dominant, then secondary, middle, primary, illiterate. The leaves are the most used parts of the plant then the seeds, the flowers bark, the stems, fruits, flowers, rhizomes, fruit bark, roots. While the infusion is the most used method of preparation comes after the decoction, powder, raw, maceration. Remedies are always administered orally. In regard to this research, these findings demonstrate the depth of the Temouchent region's knowledge of the traditional usage of herbs to treat digestive system disorders. | en_US |
