The rapid development of wireless communication has led to limited frequency resources and reduced transmission speed and efficiency. Reconfigurable antennas solve these problems, offering many functions and dynamically changing their properties, such as frequency, radiation pattern, polarisation or a combination of these three parameters. In our graduation project we studied the frequency reconfigurability of a rectangular patch antenna operating in the Ku-band [10.7-12.7] GHZ. The reconfigurability is achieved by adding a varicap diode with a variable capacitance. The developed antenna is used for space applications. The simulation results were validated by a numerical analysis method using the CST STUDIO 2014 software.en_US
