Abstract: Corrosion is a major issue in the industry, leading to high costs and safety risks. Among protection methods, corrosion inhibitors are effective substances added in low concentrations to reduce the corrosion rate of metals. Our study explores the effectiveness of an expired pharmaceutical inhibitor, Dermobacter, in a 0.5 M H2SO4 medium using the gravimetric technique. The results show that Dermobacter is a good inhibitor, forming a protective layer on copper. However, its effectiveness decreases with increasing temperature. The adsorption of Dermobacter follows the Langmuir, Temkin, and Freundlich isotherms, indicating a physisorption mechanism. Future research could compare this inhibitor to other medications and use complementary analysis methods.
