Abstract: The 2023 year will be marked in France by the entry into force of the ban on the abaya in schools. This decision caused a lot of reaction in the media and within the political sphere. The caricature through its humorous side, ironic and sarcastic contributed in the diffusion of this controversy. This illustration space is made up of several signs, namely the linguistic, iconic, plastic and sartorial sing. The combination of later makes it possible to summarize situations while conveying information in order to provoke reflection end divert public opinion. This information and communication tool constitutes the object of our work. Our corpus is made up of ten caricatures taken from different French and Algerian pages and presses and which deal which the subject of the ban of wearing abaya at school. Thanks to our sémio discursive study, we were able to notice that the cartoonists used several techniques and processes in order to present abaya and the various stereotypes in a different way which underlines the importance of the clothing choice in the production of mining. In addition, we have observed that the caricature is not only used to inform and present current events and reality, it has become a formidable weapon of communication and an effective tool of protest and social criticism.
