This study addresses the importance of updating the laws governing the design of reinforced concrete structures, such as the American code ACI 318. These updates integrate recent discoveries and scientific advances in the field of civil engineering. The revisions aim to introduce new design methods to ensure high levels of safety and performance. The objective of the study is to incorporate the ACI 318 code in the calculation of shear walls and to compare it with the Algerian seismic regulation RPA 99 V 2003. The analysis focuses on evaluating the differences in terms of concrete volume and the amount of reinforcement required for the walls. Through this study, we seek to understand how different designs influence the quantity of materials used and the efficiency of structural performance. This information can provide valuable insights to engineers and designers for the development and improvement of seismic codes, such as the Algerian seismic code.en_US
