Abstract: Toothpaste is a hygiene product, the role of which is to help prevent dental caries and there for guarantee good oral health. In this study, three types of toothpastes were formulated. One based on propolis, eugenol and without abrasive (F2) formulated according to ISO (2010) with major modifications to obtain a purely natural formula. And the other two F1, F3 (based on propolis, eugenol and activated charcoal, adding green tea essential oil to that of F3). Wee valuated the in vitro antibacterial activity of the latter against reference strains, namely MRSA E. coli, A. baumanni and Streptococcus mutans wild strain. The results showed that the toothpastes exert a significant antibacterial effect against the strains tested. All strains were extremely sensitive to our formulas, except A. baumanni which showed low sensitivity for formula 1. Our formula exerts a more significant antibacterial effect thant hat of conventional toothpaste. The physicochemical characteristics of three formulas indicate that they had a pasty, homogeneous and smooth texture, with a bitter taste. The results of pH, viscosity, water content, spreadability and foamability show that the formulas meet the agreed toothpaste standards. These results open up new perspectives for making your own toothpastes, at home, scented with the essential oil of your choice, knowing that clove, lavender, mint, etc. have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities
