This study examines the issues and impacts of mining in general, with emphasis on the cases of Algeria and Mali. It assesses how mining activities affect the environment, economy and society. The main environmental impacts observed are air and water pollution, land degradation and the destruction of ecosystems. On a socio-economic level, mining has repercussions on communities, particularly in terms of displacement, employment and living conditions. This study also highlights the importance of responsible mining that integrates sustainable practices to minimize environmental damage in a way that harmonizes benefits with economic and social issues. It offers recommendations to improve mining sector governance, strengthen environmental legislation and promote community participation in the two countries studied.en_US
