Abstract: Since ancient times, various societies have been preoccupied with the most important aspect of their lives, which is freedom. Every nation strives to acquire and achieve the greatest degree of freedom according to the various meanings and dimensions the term encompasses. However, freedom varies according to the economic, social, political, and religious environment of each country. It is necessary to define the dimensions of freedom so as not to conflict with the rights of others, achieved through establishing internal constitutional and international foundations via agreements and international treaties concerned with human rights. Freedom is linked to the human being and constitutes the cornerstone of human rights. The more a state emphasizes freedom, the more it gains the support and satisfaction of its inhabitants and the international community. However, absolute freedom cannot be realized in reality because it is hindered by important constraints related to the human entity, such as principles of human dignity and equality. A person is considered free when they adhere to local and international law and legitimate humanitarian principles.
