Benchmarking is an important step for the evaluation of the Algerian banking and financial sector after more than two decades of reforms in the context of transition from a series of CEE countries that have opted for the transition to the economy market in the same period as Algeria (the early 90s) and are able to make effective their banking and financial systems with the aim to identify gaps. The Algerian banking system remains poorly developed, the most important projects of reforms relating to governance of banks, opening the capital of some public banks, strengthening banking supervision and improving credit market and boosting the financial market and e-commerce are slow to materialize, which greatly affects the performance of the whole economy.en_US
