Considering the rise in importance of the language as action perspective introduced by philosophers of language Austin (1962) and Searle (1969), this article focuses on the function of speech acts in the construction of contemporary fictional discourse. In this perspective, the discourse analysis associated with the pragmatic approach allows us to access the inner workings of fictional discourse and identify the specificities of narrative assertion. Through a theory of language acts, we will demonstrate the performative aspect of fictional acts and their effects on the narrative process.en_US
