Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic has been one of the most challenging experiences in our history. As for education, it has created an unprecedented defiance for education systems worldwide and Algeria is no exception. The health crisis urged the authorities to make arrangements and adjustments to adapt the learning environment to the striking situation. This study aims to investigate the effects of covid 19 pandemic on the teaching process in the Algerian secondary schools in an attempt to explore the changes they brought about in the teaching environment and their effects on the teaching process. To this end, exploratory research has been conducted based on a mixed-method approach using a teachers’ questionnaire and teacher’s interview as the main data collection tools. The results gathered at the end showed that the Algerian government has failed in dealing with pandemic drawbacks , which caused a negative impact on education system and teachers .
