Abstract: English is regarded as a second foreign language in algeria , where there are minimal opportunities for the students to practice their english outside the language classroom. due to technology advancement and social networks, it is widely used and valuable. the current paper focusses on investigating the role of social networks in developing EFL learners language ability . it is a case study based on third -year students and teachers at university of ain- temouchent. data collection process was carried out my means of two research tools namely teachers’ semi structured interview and teachers’ questionnaire. results revealed that the use of social networks can help them improve their four english skill, they can also help learners to interact easily with their peers in a meaningful way that stimulate their interest in learning the language. In different words, the social networks have created new opportunities for the language learners to interact and collaborate in effective ways, it is confirmed to be a useful learning strategy in improving one’s language performance.
