Title: The Effectiveness of Translanguaging in Teaching English as a Foreign Language: case study of some Algerian EFL Teachers

Abstract: Translanguaging is the use of your first language of another foreign language in the teaching and learning process. The current study attempts to verify the effectiveness of translanguaging in Algerian EFL classrooms to improve the students capacities for learning English. The purpose of this study is to verify whether Algerian teachers incorporate the use of the first language into their classrooms or not. it also examined how they included this method and what were the benefits of its inclusion.Therefore,the sample of this study was some Algerian EFL teachers from different educational systems:middle,high and also some private schools teachers. and through the use of two research instruments, including a questionnaire and an interview, the data was analysed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that both learners and teachers were satisfied with the implementation of translanguaging and that it is effective at enhancing the learners skills, motivation and participation in learning English.
