Abstract: A pipeline is a buried or aerial canalisation that carries goods, whetherliquid or gas. Pipelines are mostoftenconstructedfrombuttweldedsteel pipes, coatedexternally or eveninternally and usuallyburied in the ground. These pipelines are found to besubject to damage caused by a lack of material or crack, thuscalling for repair or reinforcementmethods. Our study in thisfieldconsists of modelingacircumferential crack in a patch-repaired API 5L X65 steel pipeline. The numerical simulation based on the three-dimensional finite element method using the ABAQUS calculation code 6.14 isused to analyze the effect of crack advancement, crack geometry and the effect of thickness And the length of the patch on the I-mode stress intensity factor.
