The drilling will result in extracting (disturbing) part of the rock, which was previously in equilibrium. To mitigate this disturbance of the rock, we try to replace the resistance which was provided by the removed part by the effect of the drilling fluid which poses a problem of stability of the well. To avoid this instability we must monitor and analyze it before and during drilling. This study is essentially based on: - The calculation model chosen to represent the behavior of the rock (linear elasticity, plasticity ...); The evaluation of the in situ conditions that prevail within the rock, in this case the in situ stress and their orientations as well as the pore pressure (interstitial); - Estimation of the mechanical characteristics of the rock; - The characteristics of the well: diameter, inclination, azimuthen_US
