The current structures of Mediterranean landscapes are the result of disturbances of climatic origin aggravated by anthropic action. This pioneer work contributes to the study of the dynamics of vegetation in the region of Ain Temouchent. This study on the dynamics is based on the phyto-ecological approach by comparison at the station scale. The results obtained are likely to provide us with valuable information on the current state of evolution of plant formations. On the bioclimatic plan and according to the climmagram of Emberger, there is a stability of the climate which is of semi-arid type but with warmer winter compared to the former period. From the biogeographical point of view, the Mediterranean element dominates in both stations and from a morphological point of view the herbaceous plants are in the majority, whether they are annuals or perennials. The study of biological types, indicated that the station of Oued Besbes remains the most degraded with 39.13% of therophytes. Overall the calculation of the disturbance index (57.37%) indicates the extent of degradation evidenced by the dominance of therophytes compared to other biological types (Th˃Hé˃Cha˃Gé˃Pha), testifying to the alarming state of vegetation dynamics in matorrals of the study area.en_US
