Abstract: The fundamental principle of Body Area Network (BAN) networks is to carry intelligent and connected elements. The 2000s then saw the need to build networks of body sensors, able to be autonomous, and also to communicate with their immediate environment. We will talk about BAN then WBAN (Wireless BAN) to characterize their wireless appearance (similarly with WPAN for Wireless PAN). The IEEE 802.15.6 standard has specified three different physical layers that can be used depending on the intended applications. The WBAN applications require antennas specifically adapted to this technology. Our work investigates the specific characteristics, related to the design and miniaturization of butterfly-shaped patch printed antennas, in the frequency band ISM [2.4-2.5] Ghz. Our antenna is powered by a coaxial probe, with optimal radiation characteristics, a small footprint and a limited cost. The results of simulations were validated by a numerical method of analysis using the CST software.
