Abstract: The present study is a contribution to the knowledge of the medicinal plants used in traditional herbal medicine by the local population of the region of the wilaya of Ain Temouchent. A series of ethnobotanical surveys carried out using 60 questionnaires, with the aim of acquiring as much information as possible on the therapeutic uses of medicinal plants. The results reveal that women use plants more than men 73%. Among the users of traditional medicine, 35% are academics. The analysis of the results obtained shows 37 species is belonging to 21 families, the most important of which is that of the Lamiaceae. The leaves are the most used part 58%. The majority of remedies are prepared in the form of a decoction 59%. These herbal remedies are taken orally. The highest percentages of plants used are against respiratory problems.
