Abstract: | Human breast milk contains all of the essential elements that are important for growth and development of baby. It is a potential source of bacteria that promotes the establishment of the good flora of infants implicated on the protection from infections and illness. For this, we characterized bacteria from breast milk and infant feces of the northwest Algerian population. Information on age, weight, sex and mode of delivery were collected. The results show a homogeneous distribution, between samples of breast milk and infant feces.Comparing the intestinal flora of vagin ally delivered infants and those born by cesarean section a difference of distribution was found for the genus staphylococcus. In conclusion, the results of this preliminary study show that breast milk contains a diversity of bacteria that can play an important role in the infant gut colonization. Other factors may also influence this process. |
