Abstract: The present work investigates how a person’s identity adapts to a foreign culture in Salman Rushdie’s ‘The Courter”. The first chapter entitled Definition of Key Concepts is about the definitions of the main key concepts and their use in literature. The second chapter entitled Historical Background is related to the historical background of the relationship between Britain and India through history. The third chapter entitled Identity’s Change in Salman Ruhsdie’s the Courter deals with the complexity of being assimilated to another culture and the struggle of preserving one’s identity.
