Abstract: Learners can encounter various obstacles during the learning process which can effect their academic performance. The present research is devoted to shedding light on the learning process from the learner’s perspective. It covers mainly the effect of psychological factors on the learning process, especially learners’ academic performance. Thus, the overall aim of this study is investigatingthe role of the personal development of learners in enhancing academic achievements. More specifically, the study seeks to reveal the learning problems that encounter learners throughout their learning journey. It is hypothesized that personal development helps overcome difficulties that stand as an obstacle to improving learning skills. We expect that personal development leads students to reach their goals related to ameliorating their academic performance. In order to gather data, we have administrated a questionnaire to thirty-one master two students of English at Belhadj Bouchaib University in Ain Temouchent. The second tool was an interview administrated to nine selected students who belong to the same group. Furthermore, the research findings show that the influence of personal development on enhancing learners’ academic achievements is highly significant. Encouragedby the research results, the theory of neuro-linguistic programming is presented as a conceptof personal development
