dc.description.abstractThe present study sheds light on the phenomenon of code switching in EFL classrooms. It focuses on investigating the impact of code switching on English Language Teaching and Learning. The study explores the principal reasons that lead teachers and students to code switch in their EFL classroom. The participants of this research are Master Two English students and teachers, who belong to the department of English at Belhadj Bouchaib University in Ain Temouchent. In the data collection, two questionnaires were used; one for students and another was addressed to the teachers of the English language, and the data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the analyzed data show that the majority of responses exhibit that there is a positive and huge impact of code switching on English Language Teaching and Learning. Besides that, the findings also proved that the reason behind the teachers’ and students’ use of code switching is to facilitate the processes of Teaching and Learningen_US
