dc.description.abstractThe focus of this research was to show how Algerian students borrow lexical terms from English and code switching between English and Algerian Arabic in a social networking website Facebook. In this study, the researcher gathered posts of Algerian students who study English at university centre of Ain Temouchent and analyzed them .however, only spelling, lexical borrowing, code switching and posts only in English were taken into consideration during the analysis. In this study a total number of 3860 posts and comments were collected from January to February 2019 and they were taken from English students of BELHADJ BOUCHAIB UNIVERSITY Centre profile pages on Facebook. This students were mixture of male and female and they were from all levels. The results of this study indicates that the use of English is related to the Internet, computers and web pages, it is clear that mass media and series are expanding the use of English expressions so it show that there is a phenomenon of lexical borrowing and CS of Algerian Arabic and English is a common feature in computer mediated communication (CMC) by university students of English.en_US
