Abstract: Wireless Networks Sensors (WSN) constitute an emergent technology with powerful and creative potential. In the field of building in general and house automation in particular, there has been plenty of works those treat WSN’s deployment. WSN is a collection of a large number of small nodes which act as routers also. These nodes carry very limited power source which is non-rechargeable and not-replaceable, which makes energy consumption a significant issue. Energy conservation is a very important issue for prolonging the lifetime of the network. As the sensor nodes act like routers as well, the determination of routing technique plays a key role in controlling the consumption of energy. Our work gets on with making a contribution in both the algorithm-based modeling and the simulation analysis fields of hierarchical routing protocols, rated for their energy efficiency. More specifically, our study puts in opposition the behavior through preset performance metrics of two great routing approaches defined as “Cluster-based approach” and “Chain-based approach”. To be done, we limit ourselves to run an already existing algorithmic code, implemented under MATLAB, which give us an account of the behavior al duality of the clustering protocols (LEACH) versus chaining ones (PEGASIS) used in WSN, along with metrics suitable to the house automation application: thermal comfort management. The objective being to give off a scalable, more powerful approach, fruit of two protocols-based combinations
